Recently I've felt the need to speak up or address the current state of unease we're experiencing as a nation, as it's been a focus of so many of my sessions day in and day out. People are having a really hard time and are using therapy as a safe place to process through so many of their complex feelings. A friend asked me the other day what it is like to be a therapist right now with all the palpable tension in the air. I told them it feels a lot like working during those early days of the pandemic. People were scared- myself included, and the path forward seemed foggy at best. I'm terrible about updating my business social media, and even worse about writing the blog here. So it was interesting to decide to finally write a new blog post and see that the last post I did was about the start of the pandemic. Life never ceases to surprise me with its timing and coincidences.
What I find myself saying several times a week these days is that I don't have any answers or comforting words about the state of our country, or the world. The fears you have are so valid, and I share in them. All that I know to do in situations like this is to try to keep myself rooted to the ground and focus on one thing at a time. Just like with the pandemic you will make your own path through, and how you move through these next months and years will be based on your values, and what is best for you and your family. There are no right answers here. My therapy office is always a safe place to talk about world events, or to have a sacred space where you DON'T have to talk about world events. I'll follow your lead always.

AuthorThis blog is less about my writing, and more about sharing inspiration. I'll post pictures, articles, and videos that I find interesting, moving, or just funny (funny being a loose term here as my humor is generally of the nerdy psychoanalytic variety). Categories
